After this course you can
Analyze a workplace case to identify observable changes, the zone on the continuum, and the urgency of response, without diagnosing.
Recognize the observable signs of depression and other mood problems, identify the risk indicators that change the urgency, and respond with ROADS.
Respond calmly and without judgment to signs or disclosure of self-harm, check for injuries that need medical care, check separately for suicidal thoughts, and connect the person to professional help.
Give calm, practical support to a coworker after a distressing event, without pushing them to retell details, and connect them to follow-up help.
Support a coworker through a panic attack or a dissociative episode using calm presence and non-painful grounding, and recognize when symptoms must be treated as a medical emergency.
Complete a structured self-debrief after a response, hold the boundaries of the responder role, hand off when a situation goes beyond it, and keep a personal sustainability plan.

How recorded assessment works
Final exams include a recorded demonstration. You upload a recording of your screen and voice. AI services turn your speech into text and help rate it against the course rubric, and a Verten assessor reviews on request or by sample. We do not use facial recognition. Verten staff who run assessments can view it, and each view is logged. Recordings may be stored or processed outside Canada. We delete them 12 months after your result (6 months if you are under 18). You can withdraw consent at any time, and you can ask for an alternative assessment without giving a reason. Learners under 18 need a parent or guardian to consent.
