Frequently asked questions
Quick answers about prices, exams, recordings, certificates and your account.
- How much does a course cost and how long can I access it?
- Each course page shows its price in US dollars, paid once. Current courses include 180 days of access from the day you enroll. Your end date is shown at the top of the course.
- Can I get a refund?
- Refund requests are reviewed case by case. Email support@verten.ai within 14 days of purchase with your course name and the email you paid with. Completed courses and issued certificates are not refundable. See our Terms of Service.
- What do I need to pass a course?
- Pass each module's knowledge test, pass the Practice Exam with 80% or higher, then pass the Final Exam: its knowledge section plus your recorded demonstration, with every criterion rated Demonstrated or Exemplary.
- How many tries do I get?
- The Practice Exam: unlimited. Module tests and the Final Exam knowledge section: 3 tries in any 24 hours. The recorded demonstration: 3 attempts.
- Who assesses my recording?
- Your recording is assessed with the assistance of AI against the criteria in your brief, with evidence quoted from your recording for each one. A Verten assessor also checks a sample of passed results, and some courses need an assessor's sign-off before the certificate is issued. Certificates say "Practical demonstration assessed with the assistance of AI".
- How does recorded assessment work?
- Final exams include a recorded demonstration. You upload a recording of your screen and voice. AI services turn your speech into text and help rate it against the course rubric, and a Verten assessor reviews on request or by sample. We do not use facial recognition. Verten staff who run assessments can view it, and each view is logged. Recordings may be stored or processed outside Canada. We delete them 12 months after your result (6 months if you are under 18). You can withdraw consent at any time, and you can ask for an alternative assessment without giving a reason. Learners under 18 need a parent or guardian to consent. See Assessment recordings in our Privacy Policy.
- Can I ask a person to review my result (appeal)?
- Yes. If any criterion is rated Not Yet, click Request human review under that attempt. A Verten assessor will respond within 2 business days. You can also ask for an alternative assessment without giving a reason: email support@verten.ai.
- How do first aid courses work?
- BFA-101, IFA-201, CPR-101 and BLS-301 have an online part and an in-person skills session with a qualified instructor. There is no recording to upload. Your certificate is issued when both are done. It names your instructor and session date. BLS-301 certificates are valid for 12 months.
- I'm under 18. Can I take a course?
- Yes. Before your first recorded demonstration, a parent or guardian must give consent through a link we email them. Your recordings are kept for 6 months instead of 12.
- Who can see my recordings?
- Only you and authorized Verten staff. Every access is logged. Recordings are deleted automatically after 12 months (6 if you are under 18), or sooner if you withdraw your consent in the recording panel.
- My upload stopped. What do I do?
- Keep the page open; uploads resume where they stopped if the connection drops. If the page was closed, submit again. An upload that never finished does not count as an attempt.
- Who signs my certificate?
- Certificates are issued by Verten Academy. First aid certificates also name the instructor who observed you in person.
- How do I delete my account?
- Use the Data Deletion Request page. Requests are completed within 30 days.
- How do I contact support?
- Use the contact form or email support@verten.ai. Include the course name and a short description of the problem. We reply within one business day.
